INTRODUCTION

Welcome to this edition of the Refreshing Moments’ 31 Days Topical Devotional (JOY)

Refreshing Moments Devotionals are brief yet rich in content, designed to be easily understood and applied to your daily life.

Our focus throughout this booklet shall be on JOY. I pray that the Joy of the Lord that gives strength and makes one draw life, blessings, etc from the wells of Salvation will saturate your heart and mind in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

I encourage you to maximise each day’s lesson. It is powerful to open the Bible and read, it enhances your understanding because you will be rubbing minds with the all-wise God. Light, Wisdom, and Understanding will be rubbed on you like it was for Daniel - Dan.5:11. You’ll be able to take charge of your affairs and circumstances and not cringe under them.

Please open the scriptures and read yourself. It’s just so Beautiful and Refreshing!

Enjoy each day and Be REFRESHED!

Jesus Christ is the LORD!

SONG:

This old song dropped in my heart as I started writing this Devotional. I pray that JOY shall be your attitude for life in Jesus’ Name. You will never lack strength, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. (Neh.8:10):

Joy, Joy, Joy

In my heart is ringing

Joy, Joy, Joy (ooo)

In my heart is ringing

It’s ringing from the bottom of my heart

Telling me that I have Joy

Filling my heart with melody

Is JOY, JOY, JOY

I see God’s Great Joy ringing in your heart to enhance your best and productive life in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

To Get the Best of this Devotional

•        Be Born Again. If you are not, or you are not sure, please take the next prayer.

•        Know that life is spiritual and every moment in God’s Presence is a great investment into destiny.

•        Christianity is powerless without the correct knowledge and application of the Truth, that is, the Word of God (2Tim.2:15; Jn.17:17; Jn.8:32). Therefore, each day of this Devotional, has scriptures to read, meditate on, ponder upon, assimilate and apply. They may be useful immediately or stored for future usage. No investment in the Word of God is a waste. It is always useful. (Jn.14:26)

•        There are Prayer Points that will enhance your Prayer Altar. You can also add your prayers to them. They are just a guide to ensure you pray effectively daily

•        There are also Declarations you can make daily; you can add more to it. (As you say it, you see it, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Is.43:26; Num.14:28; Pro.18:21)

•        In addition to your devotions, at least a Psalm a day and a chapter of Proverbs is good for you. Psalms help us to worship God and reveal His Power and Ability, while Proverbs give Wisdom for excellent living.

To Be Born Again.

Please consciously and sincerely declare:

Lord Jesus, I come to You today, I am a sinner. I believe You died and rose again to save me from my sins. Forgive me all my sins, wash me with Your Blood, and please give me a New Beginning, from this moment. Thank You for saving me. I believe I am born again. I am saved. I am now a child of God. I declare You Jesus as my Lord, Saviour, Shepherd, and Overseer of my soul; please Take Your Place, in my life. (Jn.3:16; Mt.1:21; Rm.10:10; 2Cor.5:17; 1Pet.2:25)

I pray with you:

Father, thank You for this precious soul, thank You for saving him/her. This shall be the dawn of a new day for him/her in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Old things: old sins, old failures, old troubles, old negative lifestyles and experiences pass away, and all things become new for him/her, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Sin shall no longer have dominion over him/her, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

(Please ensure you join a Bible-believing and preaching Church around you and be planted in the house of God. Always fellowship with the brethren to keep your fire burning. Live ready, Jesus is coming soon. No more careless living. God will help you, as you also take responsibility in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Jn.8:31-32; Ps.92:13-15; Heb.10:25; 2Cor.6:14-7:1)

REFLECTION

When God’s Great Joy is deep down in your heart and soul, situations and circumstances will never move you. The tough times in our world today will not be an issue for you.

Rather, you are part of the solution that will be sought after. You have the answers to the questions that are being asked because you are connected to the great wells of Salvation – Is.12:3.

This Joy is sweet, beautiful, and soul-saving. Money cannot buy it. Neither can power, fame, or human connections.

This Joy comes from God Himself. This is not happiness. Happiness is a product of happenings. So, when those things don’t happen, the person is stuck, sad, depressed, and could become violent or suicidal.

This Joy is not because of what you have or don’t have. It is a Fruit of the Holy Spirit. A gift from God. It’s our privilege and great honour to have it.

Experience Refreshing Moments of Joy with this uplifting Devotional.

PRAYERS

•        Father, please drain out every dirty oil in my spirit. I ask for Fresh Oil of Joy to lubricate every corner of the engine of my spirit man, for effective joyful living, in Jesus’ Name. (Is.61:1-3)

•        I cast out every form of murmuring, complaining, grumbling, offences, bitterness, and any vice that invites or promotes sorrow, sadness, depression, and hinders the Joy of the Lord, in Jesus’ Name. (Phil.2:13-15; t.15:13; 2 Corinth.10:4-6)

•        My soul shall Bless the Lord at all times, His Praise shall continually be in my mouth. My Joy shall be contagious, relieving my world, in Jesus’ Name. (Ps.34:1-3)

•        No negative Joy killer is permitted around me. Only Joy that secures God’s Presence is permitted in my territory, in Jesus’ Name. (Ps.16:11)

•        Thanksgiving is my attitude. I will always be thankful because it will make me Praiseful and Joyful. (Ps.150)

DECLARATIONS

•        I am a product of my choices. I choose to be Joyful. (Deut. 30:19)

•        Joy all the way. Joy in my heart. Joy in my relationships. Joy in my endeavours. (Numb.14:28)

•        JOY! JOY!! JOY!!! I choke out everything contrary to Joy around me. (Lk.10:18-20)

•        There is JOY in my heart today! (Is.43:26; Job 22:28)

•        My Tree produces Joyful fruits for all who need them. (Is.61:3; Pro.15:4)

31 DAYS DEVOTIONAL

DAY 1

Psalm 16:11  – You will show me the path of life: in your Presence is fulness of Joy; at Your Right Hand there are Pleasures for evermore.(emphasis mine)

This is a great place to start. The place of God’s Presence. God’s Presence is the most important companion of our lives and destinies. His Presence gives us REST on every side. No wonder Moses demanded it and God gave it as we see in Ex.33:13-14.

In His Presence is fullness of Joy as we see in our text today.

Thanksgiving, Praise, and Worship are ways to activate God’s Presence – please see Ps.22:3.

I dare to say that a thankful person will be a Joyful person. So, get rid of sorrow, murmuring, complaining, worrying, and fretting.

Be thankful, so that you can be Joyful.

DAY 2

Psalm 98:4-9  - Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn— shout for joy before the LORD, the King… ( Please read the entire text from your Bible)

Beloved, Shout Hallelujah right where you are. Give God Glory with a loud voice for every grace and goodness you have enjoyed, even if you don’t know any, that you are alive, breathing, and reading this booklet right now, is a very good grace.

Thanksgiving and Praise stir up Joy within us. May Joy Rejoicing, Praise, and thanksgiving never depart from your life and habitation, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

DAY 3

James 1:2-4 - Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. (NLT)

As we see in our text above, let’s trivialise and despise our challenges. Yes, they are big, but very small for God to handle and dissolve.

Worry, fretting, anxiety, etc are destructive toxins, don’t allow them. Count your blessings and name them one by one. REJOICE!!!

DAY 4

Hebrews 12:1-2  - … let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (NIV)

There is a Joy before you. There is a victory to be won. There are prizes for you as you win and overcome that challenge.

Because of the victories and testimonies ahead, choose to be Joyful. This Joy comes from the attitude of thanksgiving, and a grateful heart. (Ps.92,103)

DAY 5

1 Peter 1:8-9  - Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. (ESV)

There is this inexpressible Joy that comes when we believe in Jesus Christ. It is called the Joy of Salvation. This Joy is not determined by any physical thing that we have or don’t have – Psalm 51:12.

It is of the Holy Spirit and wells up from within, once we believe in Jesus Christ and every time we believe in Him for anything.

This Joy also comes when we feast on the Word of God in the Bible, by reading, meditating, doing, and sharing it – Jer.15:16.

DAY 6

Isaiah 12:3  - Therefore with Joy, you will draw water From the wells of salvation. (NKJV)

There are wells of Salvation. It is with the rope of Joy that we can draw from them.

A sad person will read the same verse of scripture and cannot see anything in it. A Joyful person will read a verse of scripture and see healing, blessings, deliverances, breakthroughs, and answers from it.

There was a testimony of a woman in Winners Chapel who had a marital issue, didn’t have concordance to check for marital scriptures, but chose to start reading the Bible from Genesis, when she got to Jeremiah, she found her answer and there was a restoration of her home.

The scripture she found may not have anything to do with marriage, but I think what happened was that the more she read the Bible, the more Joyful she became, and the issue before her became deflated, and there was restoration. (Jer.15:16)

DAY 7

Psalm 68:3  - But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful. (NIV)

When we believe in Jesus Christ we are made righteous – Phil.3:9-10. This is the righteousness that is acceptable to God, not our good moral behaviour. This righteousness that is by faith in Christ Jesus empowers us to live morally upright with Joy, Peace, and Ease. (Mt.11:28-30; Jn.6:28-29; Rm.3:21-28)

So, as a righteous person, Be GLAD, and REJOICE before God. Be HAPPY and JOYFUL. Don’t be moody! God is not in mood swings.

God’s dwelling is in JOY, THANKSGIVING AND PRAISE – Ps.22:3.

DAY 8

Luke 2:9-11  - An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord (NIV)

Every news about Jesus Christ brings great Joy. I decree great Joy, Peace, and Love to you, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Whatever troubled you before now disappears by the Joy of Jesus Christ that fills your heart, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Whatever makes you afraid is disabled. That thing that you fear will not happen, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Great Joy is your portion and attitude from henceforth; only glorious things are permitted around you, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

DAY 9

Isaiah 52:8-10  - Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices; together they shout for joy. When the LORD returns to Zion, they will see it with their own eyes. Burst into songs of joy together, you ruins of Jerusalem, for the LORD has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem. The LORD will lay bare his holy arm in the sight of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God. (NIV)

Joy to your world in Jesus’ Name. Pain shame sorrow and sadness are eradicated, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

May the Comfort of Scriptures and the Holy Spirit, strengthen your heart to burst into songs; you shall see the Salvation of God, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. (Rm.15:4; Jn.14:15-21)

DAY 10

1 Chronicles 15:28  - So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouts, with the sounding of rams’ horns and trumpets, and of cymbals, and the playing of lyres and harps. (NIV)

Shout Hallelujah it’s the highest Praise. Dance the devil is defeated, he’s under my feet. Lift hands to heaven – I have been set FREE! Clap for my Jesus, in VICTORY! (Song by Bishop Clarence E McClendon- please google it and dance to the Lord. If you don’t have internet, sing your song and dance to the Lord NOW!). Hallelujah!

DAY 11

Ezra 3:11-13  -  And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the LORD: “For He is good, For His mercy endures forever toward Israel.” Then all the people shouted with a great shout when they praised the LORD because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid… many shouted aloud for joy…  (NKJV)

Every Hand of God you notice or see in your life and affairs, give God quality Praise. Be grateful and you will see His outstretched arm. Do it on time, don’t delay. He is Faithful to complete whatever He begins. (Ps.44:3-8; Ps.138:8)

Use your Joyful shouts of Praise to cheer Him to finish it quickly.

DAY 12

John 20:20  - As He spoke, He showed them the wounds in His hands and His side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord! (NLT)

May you see the Lord in all you do today and always. May He appear for your help and victory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

So, REJOICE and be Glad. Cast all your cares on Him, He cares for you and is in absolute control of all things. (Phil.4:4-6; 1Pet.5:7; Ps.103)

DAY 13

Matthew 2:10 - When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

The Star of Jesus Christ gives exceeding great Joy. May that Star shine on you today and on all your endeavours. May that Star open unimaginable doors for you today.

May that Star speak for you in impossible places and great board rooms, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. They shall send for you for good, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. (Job 22:21-30)

DAY 14

Psalm 32:1-2  - Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! (NLT)

Sin is a bad weight and a curse. This curse came when Adam disobeyed God at the beginning in Genesis 3.

When we receive His forgiveness, it is a Blessing that gives an inexplicable Joy because we are now drawn to God. Sin separates us from Him.

Ask Him to forgive you and you will be FREE from the burden of sin. That is why Jesus came to die on the cross to save us from our sins. Whoever Jesus sets FREE is FREE indeed. (Mt.1:21; Jn.3:16; 1Jn.1:5-10; Jn.8:31-36)

DAY 15

Psalm 70:4 –  Let all those who seek You REJOICE and be Glad in You; And let those who Love Your Salvation say continually, “Let God be Magnified!” (NKJV)

Searching for God fills one with Joy and gladness, especially from the heart. We can’t truly search for God without attending to His Word.

And every time we attend to His Word, there is Joy received and impacted. That Joy supercedes the challenges we may be facing at that time.

That Joy strengthens, and most times gives direction on the way out of difficulties. So, attend more to the Word of God for a better joyful countenance and life. (Jer..15:16; Ps.119:105; Neh.8:10; Ps.42-43)

DAY 16

Acts 13:48-52  – Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed. And the word of the Lord was being spread throughout all the region… And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. (NKJV)

Every time God’s Word is shared and spread, there is great joy that is released into the hearts of the recipient thereby bringing hope, love, joy, and peace.

No one can stop the impact of the Word of God. It is quick and powerful! It goes to the soul, spirit, bone, and marrow. It discerns the thoughts and intents of the heart – Heb.4:12.

Give more attention to the Life-giving, Life transforming Word of God – 1 Tim.4:13-16.

DAY 17

1 Peter 1:6  - So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. (NLT)

Believing in Jesus Christ fills one with Joy – an uncommon and unusual Joy.

Do you believe in Jesus Christ? Are you Born Again? If you are not, please see the first few pages of this devotional.

Jesus said: in this world, there will be tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world – Jn.16:33.

DAY 18

Psalm 32:11 - Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart! (NIV)

There is always a great Joy that results from our seeking our Good God. God is Good and His MERCY endures forever.

His Presence should be our greatest delight in these tough times. Seek Him in Thanksgiving, Praise, and Worship. (Psalm 33)

Feast on His Word. Let your environment be saturated with the Word of God; it revives, strengthens, comforts, and gives us hope – Rm.15:4,13; Jer.29:11.

DAY 19

Psalm 28::6-9 - Blessed be the LORD, Because He has heard the voice of my supplications! The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song, I will praise Him… (Please read all the verses from the Bible)

God is your saving strength. He will save and bless you. He will feed and lift you up forever, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. (Ps.28:8-9)

Please take time to regard God, His work, and His operations. Be involved in promoting His Word and His Kingdom. Pray for the salvation of the souls connected to you. God wants all men saved – Jn.3:16; 1 Tim.2:1-4.

DAY 20

Psalm 47:1  - Oh, clap your hands, all you people! Shout to God with the voice of triumph!

Joyful Praise to God brings God into our affairs. When He steps in every contrary thing bows out. They flee without looking back. (Ps.47; Ps.114)

So, SING Joyfully unto the Lord! Clap your hands and shout His Praise. Don’t keep quiet. Paul and Silas prayed and sang and the prisoners heard them. They also saw and experienced the earthquake that resulted. (Acts 16:22-40)

Don’t be ashamed of identifying with God and worshipping Him unashamedly everywhere. (Mk.8:34-38)

DAY 21

Psalm 30:4-5 - Sing praise to the LORD, you saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. (NKJV)

Every discovery about God stirs Joy. In the night season of your life, find God, find His Word and Will. When you find Him and His Truth, you become FREE and FREE indeed.

Connect with God and His people. Our Liberty and Glorious Advancement is sure when we intentionally connect and walk with God and delight in Him. (Jn.8:30-36; 2Cor.3:14-18; Ps.37:3-4)

DAY 22

Proverbs 17:22  -  A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones. (BSB)

Joy in the heart is a very good medicine. Resist everything that tampers with this Joy. Choose to be MERRY and CHEERFUL.

Serve God with Gladness. He will make you hear and have Joy and Gladness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen – Ps.100:2; Ps.51:8; Lk.1:14; Deut.28:47-48.

DAY 23

Psalm 100:2  - Serve the LORD with gladness and delight; Come before His presence with joyful singing. (Amp)

Every time you come to God’s Presence, whether in your personal devotion time or when you fellowship with the brethren, ensure you are coming with Joyful singing. God loves it. Put aside your hurts and pains and give Him your Joyful Thanks, Praise, and Worship.

It will secure His Presence that gives total liberty. You can’t leave the same way, you will surely be better refreshed and revived. (Ps.16:11; 2Cor.3:17-18)

DAY 24

Psalm 4:7  - You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine. (NLT)

May God give you the Joy that exceeds all kinds of riches. God’s Joy is greater than the happiness people have when their riches increase.

This Joy is unspeakable and full of Glory, eradicating every form of shame and pain, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. (1Pet.1:8-9)

DAY 25

Matthew 5:11-12 - “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (NIV)

People will mock and despise you for Jesus’ sake. They will persecute you, don’t wonder why or feel rejected, rather REJOICE and GLAD for the privilege to share in Christ’s sufferings. It is a great honour! (1Pet.4:12-19)

DAY 26

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18  -  Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. (NLT)

Know that each day is the day God has made, so rejoice and be glad in it. Let your day start with Joyful singing to God, so you can take charge of the day and other things will align and bow to God and His Presence that you have generated via Joy, Thanksgiving, and Praise. (Ps.118:24; Ps.100)

Have a Joy-filled day!

DAY 27

Romans 12:12  - Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. (NIV)

Joy helps us to have confident hope of a better tomorrow, the challenges of today notwithstanding.

So, let’s keep praying and trusting God for a notable change of story no matter the difficulties and impossibilities facing us today. Please read Habakkuk 3:17-19; Is.61:10.

DAY 28

Zephaniah 3:17  - For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” (NLT)

May God calm all your fears in Jesus’ Name. Amen. What you are afraid of will not happen, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Magnify the Fear of God in your heart, not the fear of the times or issues of life – please read Isaiah 8:11-14.

DAY 29

John 15:11 - These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. (NKJV)

Every Word of Scripture gives us Joy! Jesus Christ is the Word of God made flesh – Jn.1:1-14. May the Joy of Jesus Christ the Word of God remain in us filling our own Joy to overflowing, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

With this Joy, we can take charge of situations, run through troops, and leap over obstacles and limitations. (Is.12:3; Ps.18:29-40)

DAY 30

John 16:24  - Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. (NKJV)

Instead of worrying or fretting ask in Jesus’ Name. Talk to God about it, He will answer. Note that the answer He will give you will be a Joyful one which is confirmed by His Peace. (Phil.4:6-7; 1Jn.5:14-15)

In case you ask for what is contrary to His Word and Will, His answer of Joy and Peace will certainly be NO! If you are not prepared for what you are asking for, His answer will be WAIT! And if it is His will to give you that thing now, His answer will be TAKE it now!

Watch out for His Joy and Peace in the answers to your requests from God.

DAY 31

Proverbs 15:23  - A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is! (NKJV)

Our words are seeds, so let’s mind what we say. Life and Death are in the power of the tongue, so use your tongue wisely and with love. (Pro.18:21)

Ask God to put a lock on your mouth so you don’t speak carelessly and destroy yourself. (Ps.141:3)

The more we saturate our hearts with the Word of God, the more our tongues are censured to speak the right thing at the right time. (Col.3:16; Mt.12:34-37)

Be a Source of Joy to others, help them enter into God’s Presence; don’t take them away. (1Thes.3:9; Ps.16:11)

MAY THE JOY OF THE LORD RENEW YOUR STRENGTH, IN JESUS’ NAME. AMEN. (Neh.8:10)
