Entwined in the past

The idea of leaving the small town where she grew up is top on Kiki’s wishlist.

As a painter, she sends samples of her work to many art galleries in the bigger cities around her, and when one of her paintings is accepted by a prominent gallery in Las Vegas, Kiki knows nothing will stop her from leaving.

Without looking back, she leaves her family behind - keeping in communication with only her siblings.

Luan Pitts is a barista at a cafe in Las Vegas. He is intrigued by Kiki’s daily need for cappuccino, and he slowly tries to build a friendship with her. The attraction is there, and Kiki is willing to enter into a casual relationship, but Luan is the kind of guy who wants more.

Their relationship hits the rocks when Kiki’s father returns home with divorce papers less than a year after leaving home.

He had found love in another woman and was willing to do anything to make her happy, even abandon his family.

Kiki slips into depression, affecting her art. She pushes Luan and everyone else away, resolving to fix her family on her own.

Her mother cannot handle the stress of dealing with an anorexic Roger and a wild Jasmine, and she appeals to Kiki to come back home.

In the wake of it all, Kiki takes matters into her own hands... she travels to South Africa without a word to anyone, not even Luan...

But how far can she run before her life catches up to her?
