More grease to your elbows!

INTRODUCTION

Everybody desires to be great in life. No one would really want to just live an ordinary life. Anyone who really want to be great must be ready to embark on the journey to greatness. To be great means to be important, notable, outstanding and significant. Yes! This is every man's desire.

It's important to note that no one was born great. As a matter of fact, it is not all that were born into great families that attain greatness. History is replete with people who despite the advantage of being born into great families did not amount to anything. So it is futile to say ‘I wish I was born into so and so family.’

However, believers have the gene of God because we are made in His image and after His likeness. Our God is a great God and we His children are called to be great people.

Jesus, our perfect example in the days of His earthly ministry walked in absolute greatness in accordance with the words that were spoken about him because he carried the gene of greatness.

“He shall be great, and shall be called the son of the Highest; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David; and he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever”. - Luke 1:33-33

As was Jesus in his time, so must we in our dispensation. We are called to work in His steps even as He declared concerning us (John 17: 18).

However, what causes many people to live their lives below the average and have not made any outstanding impact in life and destiny is what this book is all about. You will also discover in this book why some become great and others don't and the secrets you need to perpetually stand out of the masses. This is the book you need to break off from the shackles of smallness and irrelevance and become who God created you to be. See you on top!

CHAPTER ONE

“So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy”.- Romans 9:16

“Then he answered and spoke unto me, saying, this is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might nor by power, but my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts”.- Zechariah 4:6

GOD MAKES PEOPLE GREAT

People become great because they realize it is God who makes man great. I wonder at people who always think and believe that, they, can make it to the top all alone. No it’s not possible! Those who think it's possible ends up falling from grace to grass at the pinnacle of their success. In the journey to greatness your effort alone can never make it happen. It is our great God that makes people great. The scriptures say, it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy.

Your willingness to be great is not enough. You must recognize the place of God Almighty in the game. Many people keep on running day and night but have not been making any tangible move at all. Someone believes to have said, that, if you are running alone, you are running a race but if you run with God, you are running by grace.

Take a minute and ask yourself; who am I running with? The word of God says, it`s not by might, nor by power, but by the spirit of God. Think about it!

Human energy cannot take you to greatness. The most influential of men cannot take you there because the source of true greatness is God.

“Now the Lord had said unto Abram, get thee out of the country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father`s house, unto a land that I will show thee: and I will make thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing”. - Genesis 12:1-2

Abraham's journey to greatness started with this divine encounter where God assured him that he would become great. The truth here is that; no one can truly become great until he or she has an encounter with God. The most interesting thing to acknowledge here is that, there was no record of greatness about Abram with all the privileges and inheritances he had in his father's house.

God brought him out and promised to make him great. Now, we must take care to note that all that God promised Abraham came to pass in his lifetime. You too can become a great nation and have a great name if you understand that it is God that makes men great.

The problem with today generation is that, not all of us are ready to embark on the journey to greatness and not all of us that really understand that only God makes people great. We rely on the system of this world, what we know is working for people and our own capacity to make things happen. That's why many people are operating below their standards even though they appear to be men and women of great influence and honor.

“And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he become very great”. - Genesis 26: 13

For those who think they do not really need God in their affairs and that by their own ways can become outstanding and notable in life, this is a reminder to them that, it's the blessing of God that maketh rich and addeth no sorrow to it. Isaac waxed great, went forward and grew to become very great because he relied on God’s blessings. Friends, those who are not blessed by God cannot become great, even if they do, shame and reproach will be their end result.

Nothing cannot become something without the blessing of God. Your life, business and marriage would not amount to anything meaningful when they lack God’s blessings. Today, many people are doing their things their own ways without the help of God thinking they would end up successful and prosperous. At this juncture, allow me to ask you these questions.

Who can say a thing and it would come to pass when the Lord has not commanded it? Who can build a house when the Lord has not built it? Isn't it vain for man to rise up early to sit up late without the hand of God. This world is replete with men and women who have been discouraged and disappointed because they, at a point in times have believed human promises to be outstanding and great in life. No big man, no government official can make you great.

Your life and future is in the hands of God not man, your greatness and your colorful destiny is only secured by God Almighty. No promises of man can really be fulfilled without the help of God? How many people have not been disappointed before because of non-fulfillment of promises? Are you not aware that man proposes but only the counsel of the Lord stands? Is this word not evident around us in our societies where many promise but fail to accomplish? Think about it!

Those who trust in the Lord and His capability to bring to pass all that concern them will eventually stand out of the crowd they belong to. Our God remains the same. He changes not and His words never fail. He alone can make you great in your family and in the society you belong to and crown you with unprecedented success if only you give Him the first place in your life and everything you do.
